Will they extract my teeth?

Dear Doctor,

Six months ago, I was at the dentist for a dental cleaning. I have been brushing and flossing
twice a day. However, despite a good oral hygiene, I still developed a deep cavity in between my
upper first and second premolar. There is a gum flap in between those teeth. I am worried that
they will extract these teeth. Can you please give me some advice?

Hello!

You shouldn’t worry – if your teeth need to be extracted, it will be because it is the sensible option; probably the only way to prevent whatever dental issue you may have.

Better than worrying about it is to gather more professional opinions specific to your issue; go to a gum specialist – a periodontologist. Depending on the diagnosis, get treated accordingly, and then make sure that you keep up your solid dental hygiene and good habits so you don’t have to go through it again!

Hi!

I've got cavity in between my two teeth, too. The dentist did not pull the teeth but filled them with tooth colored fillings. They will only extract the tooth if nothing can be done anymore to save it.
